Sheetz, an East Coast convenience chain, is offering a special discount on gas prices for one day only, specifically on the Fourth of July.

In honor of the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, gas will be sold for $1.776 per gallon, a clever nod to the patriotic occasion.

The promotion began at 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, allowing drivers to save 50% off the regular pump price for the duration of the day or until the gas supply lasts.

This discounted rate applies to various fuel grades including Regular, E85 (flex fuel), Unleaded 88, mid-grade, and premium fuel.

However, diesel and Ethanol Free fuel are excluded from the promotion.

Travis Sheetz, the president and CEO of Sheetz, expressed the hope that this special discount would provide customers with some financial relief as they travel to celebrate the Fourth of July.

This year, gas prices have already dropped significantly, benefiting the record-setting 43.2 million Americans expected to travel during the holiday season.

The national average for regular gasoline recently reached $3.55 per gallon, compared to the $4.87 per gallon recorded a year ago.

On July Fourth, the national average dipped even further to $3.53 per gallon, providing additional savings for consumers.
